LOCATION – Rushcutters Bay, Eastern Suburbs, Sydney NSW
The body corporate of this beautiful apartment complex in Rushcutters Bay wanted a refurbishment of their apartment block garden. Â
The communal garden areas needed to be brightened up in the darker areas of the apartment garden to encourage the residents to enjoy looking over their balconies into an elegant and vibrant space.Â
It had to be attractive from all sides of the building, yet hardy and low maintenance. So we included some of our balcony garden design ideas such as modern new large scale pots and some modern tropical plants including Elephants Ears. We finished the planting off with some corten steel edging and new light pebbles underneath.

APARTMENT PLANTING
We were fortunate to have some existing large boundary plants that already created a privacy screen from the neighbouring apartment blocks.
Our focus was to introduce some lower level feature plants and pots and create a more inviting garden for the apartment block residents to enjoy.
For such a large Eastern Suburbs garden area, we introduced some Elephants Ears in large feature pots coupled with some mass planting of Xanadu.
OUTDOOR FEATURE POTS
We introduced some large circular feature pots into the garden beds to break up the uniformity of the space. We used these to not only create different height plantings, but introduce a different scale of feature plant.
LARGE OUTDOOR COURTYARD
The apartment garden also featured a large open courtyard area that looked great but lacked the sense of design that featured throughout the garden area.Â
We introduced a series of Atlantis pots in different sizes and shapes. This also gave us the opportunity break up the planting design with some low maintenance feature plants not located anywhere else in the garden.
The apartment owners were thrilled with our landscape design Rushcutters Bay project and now use their new outdoor areas to entertain and relax.
