Vogue & Vine were approached to design a modern courtyard space in the back of this compact inner city terrace.
We were given complete flexibility to apply small garden design concepts to create a sense of privacy suited to outdoor entertaining.
The result

Being a small garden design, a limited plant palette was used along the boundary with the eye drawn to the key outdoor design elements.

THE CLIENTS
A professional couple in their Darlinghurst terrace in Sydney’s Inner City.
This space challenged Darlinghurst back courtyard was completely run down, including old fencing and a total lack of privacy.
The clients approved our concept of a Japanese inspired space using their existing natural stone tiled floor.
Established plants were used in this small garden design to provide immediate impact. Lightweight stone outdoor pots were added with a modern mix of plants to add a softer contemporary feel to a highly structured space.
THE DESIGN
A black colour palette was used for the fencing and outdoor pots and troughs. Broken up by panels of natural engineered bamboo screening and large outdoor mirrors.
Crisp black planter troughs along the boundary fence with one signature feature pot featured a Japanese Maple tree, helping to balance the garden.
OUTDOOR FURNITURE
The outdoor furniture featured a contemporary glass table with dramatic black wire chairs to offset the Japanese style planting.
